| The
Brampton Pie Company began life 25 years ago. Equipment consisted of
a redundant cooker from a local village school,
a large saucepan and an even larger rolling
pin, but the pies which emerged from the tiny
back room turned out to be very special indeed.
Within a few short months the basis of the
business changed from selling mostly meat
to a situation where the pie sales more than
doubled weekly turnover.
So popular
were the pies that parking within the village
became virtually impossible and the village
council were left with no alternative but
to put down yellow lines to stop customers
from parking both sides of the road! Largely
ignored, these were closely followed by traffic
wardens and then the police all trying to
control the traffic. However, our parking
battles ended with the opening of the first
dedicated Brampton Pie Shop just a mile away
in Huntingdon – leaving the police and
traffic wardens at Brampton free to join the
queue for pies.
There are some things
we will never change. We have always used
the best of everything and will always continue
to do so! We will continue to make our incredible
pastry on site and that goes for the puff
pastry as well. We will never compromise our
quality by offering less filling or a lower
meat content and definitely no mechanically
recovered meat! Pies take a long time to make
and if they are worth making at all, they
are worth making well!
Our dozens
of gold awards for excellence, our champions
trophies and certificates are all tucked discreetly
away . Why? Because we know, and all our staff
know, it matters not a jot how many awards
we have: we are only as good as our last pie! |
